Chris Macallister has been Director of the Language Centre at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University since September 2017. The Language Centre delivers English for Academic Purposes programmes, and Chinese, Spanish and Japanese language programmes. Before he joined XJTLU Chris worked at Durham University in the UK. His last role there was Director of Teacher Development and Overseas Projects. In this role he lead the development of collaborative projects with Universities in Hong Kong, Mexico and North Africa. Previously he managed pre-sessional and in-sessional programmes at Durham’s English Language Centre. Chris Macallister’s scholarship has focused language teaching management and Critical English for Academic Purposes. He contributed a chapter on ‘Critical Perspectives in EAP’ to the Routledge Handbook of Teaching English for Academic Purposes (2016).
