Project Introduction
Background
The demand for interdisciplinary compound talents has revealed a trend of fast increase with economic and social development. Interdisciplinary learning refers to an active learning process that starts with a practical problem or phenomenon, consolidate and analyse integrative knowledge with two more disciplines, eventually, to reach a consensus and propose a solution to that problem or phenomenon. In order to raise students' concern on practical social problems and enhance their ability of critical thinking, problem solving, and communication and collaboration mindset and skills, Institute of Leadership and Education Advanced Development (ILEAD) proposes this program to promote students’ ability on research-led learning as well as interdisciplinary communication among XJTLU.
Aims

To promote research-led learning among students, especially to enhance abilities on critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration mindset and skills;

To guide students to concern about practical problems and improve awareness on the interaction between professional knowledge and the society;

To break the barriers between disciplines and stimulate interdisciplinary communication and collaboration.
Characteristic

Integrating internal and external resources for teachers and students and improve interaction between teachers and students from various disciplines;

Helping teachers understand students’ demand on knowledge and social resources as well as seek joint research among disciplines;

Improving students’ awareness on how to apply knowledge to solve practical problems in society as well as the value of learning expertise;

Guiding students to think, propose, research and solve practical problems initiatively.
Awards
Each project team will receive a stipend of around 3000 RMB
Interdisciplinary Mentor
To integrate internal resources cross domain, Interdisciplinary Learning Program plans to attract 40 teachers who are interested in interdisciplinary researches and provide guidance for students as well as seek for interdisciplinary collaboration. To establish an Interdisciplinary Teaching Panel.
