Chen Bing Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Research Fellow and Trainer of ILEAD

Department of Urban Planning and Design at XJTLU

PROFILE

Bing holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Sheffield, UK. His research interests focus on ‘sustainable planning/design strategies (from eco-cities to green architecture)’, ‘evidence-based design for healthcare environment’, ‘building environmental assessment methods’, 'ageing and community', and ‘education for sustainable development’. His design thinking is developed through an iterative process of 'Research-Design-New Research-New (or Re-) Design', which reflects the mutually complementary and beneficial relationship between 'Research' and 'Design'.
He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), he also serves as a Research Fellow and Trainer of Institute of Leadership and Education Advanced Development (ILEAD) at XJTLU. Before joined XJTLU in 2011, Bing worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Sheffield and the University of Lincoln. He has been involved in several interdisciplinary studies including research projects funded by EPSRC, AHRC and other funding bodies.
